As I read stories of saints, I find that there are some who are mighty and amazing and there are some who are thoughtful and quiet. They can be ordinary without living a life of mediocrity. When I look at the world today, I find that mediocrity is encouraged.
I meet people who tell me they are good people. They don't need to go to church all the time. They have Jesus in their hearts, and they don't need all of the trappings. Jesus loves them where they are, and that's okay.
Each time I hear this, I just want to scream, "But don't you want MORE!"
"More what?"
More everything. Jesus has so much more to offer than the feels people talk about. He gave us legions of angels to be our helpers and a community of saints to look to as role models. Jesus loves us to the last drop of His blood, and then He gave us His sacred heart.
Why would anyone want to just settle for okay? If I truly believed everything I said I believed about Jesus, I could never settle for okay. I would have more religious art than an average Catholic bookstore. I would have all of the materials necessary for a home Mass and house blessing. I would have religious books and toys for my children, and bookcases of religious books for myself, my husband, and my teens. If I truly believed everything I said I believed about Jesus, I would not need to speak a word to show the world where I stand.
Everyone would already know. I stand with Jesus.
"If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshiped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
