Easter morning. The time when all of creation rejoices for God broke death and saved His people from sin. Today there are chocolates to be eaten, eggs to be found, costumes to be worn, and feasts to be shared. The cat even found herself eye to eye with a bowl of cream for the occasion. After Mass today, I turned to my little girl and said, "Now, it is Easter." She looked at me and said, "What do you call the egg hunt, the baskets, the chocolate and the toys back home?" I just laughed. She isn't old enough to understand the idea of prelude.
Here I am at the most beautiful moment in all of creation, and the Church says it is not just one day, but fifty! I don't know that I have the stamina to celebrate that long. Maybe that's what Heaven is like, having the stamina to maintain peak rejoicing forever. There is no giving up on that holy mountain. There is no sitting out on the dance on that holy mountain. There is no needing to catch one's breath on that holy mountain. There are no side cramps and burning lungs on that holy mountain. There is endless joy on that holy mountain of the Lord!
Offer thanksgiving as you enter His gates, sing hymns of praise as you approach His courts; give thanks to Him and bless His Name, for the Lord is good. His kindness endures forever, and His faithfulness is constant to all generations. Psalm 100: 4-5
