Friends in Heaven

Writer's picture: Nancy TefftNancy Tefft

I have noticed that I have attended many funerals of people I have not known well. I have gone to support other family members and friends, and there I was, a stranger to the deceased. I have read their obituaries and listened to the stories of their loved ones, and I began to think that in another life the deceased and I could have been really good friends.

My children and I talk about what the next world will be like. No one will ever be pressed for time because time never ends. I will have the time to meet all of the people for whom I have prayed in this life. I will be able to share my stories with them, as their families and friends have shared their stories with me.

There will be no missed opportunities in the next world. There will be only an abundance of hope, peace, joy, and love.

I prayed, and prudence was given to me; I pleaded, and the spirit of Wisdom came to me. I preferred her to scepter and throne and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her; nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; because gold, in view of her, is a little sand, and before her, silver is to be accounted mire. Beyond health and comeliness, I loved her; and I chose to have her rather than the light, because the splendor of her never yields to sleep. Wisdom 7: 7-10
