Anger and Calumny

I have often heard it is okay to vent my feelings. It is okay; it isn't gossip. Gossip is wrong. Venting is just letting go of frustrations in a safe and nonjudgemental environment.

In my experience there is always a moment when the venting takes a turn. The greater the feelings of anger, the higher the likelihood my frustrations will be exaggerated, and slander will creep into the conversation.

"I bet they ..." or "They probably planned to ..." are phases that do not accurately describe my personal experiences.

After a few deep breaths, I find it is important to address to actual events and give them to God.

It is nonjudgemental, it does not involve calumny and escalate into something enormous, and the speaker understands that they are acknowledged and supported.

Sin speaks to the sinner in the depths of his heart. There is no fear of God before his eyes. He flatters himself in his mind that he knows not his guilt. In his mouth are mischief and deceit. All wisdom is gone. Psalm 36: 2-4
